01 · Best AI Short Film (1 to 5 mins)
A complete short film of 1 to 5 minutes created using AI tools. Open to all genres and styles. Filmmakers must state the exact runtime of their film and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.

02 · Best AI Feature Film (2 to 100 mins)
A complete AI-generated or AI-assisted film with a runtime of between 2 and 100 minutes. All genres welcome. Filmmakers must state the exact runtime of their film and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.

03 · Best AI Animation (1 to 7 mins)
An animated film created using AI tools. Open to all animation styles and techniques, except anime, which has its own dedicated category. Filmmakers must state the exact runtime of their film and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.

04 · Best AI Anime Film (1 to 7 mins)
An anime-style film of 1 to 7 minutes created using AI tools. This category celebrates the intersection of Japanese-influenced animation and AI filmmaking. Anime and animation are separate categories at OPUS Film Awards. Open to all narrative approaches. Filmmakers must state the exact runtime of their film and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.

05 · Best AI Music Video (1 to 7 mins)
A music video where AI has been used in the visual production. The music itself may or may not be AI-generated. All genres of music welcome. Filmmakers must state the genre of music featured and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.

06 · Best AI Documentary (1 to 7 mins)
A documentary where AI has been used in its production, storytelling or visual creation. The subject matter does not need to be about AI — all topics and themes are welcome. Filmmakers must state the exact runtime of their film and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.

A brand or product advertisement of up to 2 minutes created using AI tools. This category welcomes both commissioned commercial work and creative concept pieces. The product or brand being advertised may be real or fictional. Filmmakers must state the exact runtime of their film and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.

08 · Best AI Movie Trailer (1 to 7 mins)
A cinematic trailer or teaser created using AI tools. The film must be an original work and not a trailer for an existing production. Open to all genres and styles. Filmmakers must state the exact runtime of their film and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.

09 · The Luminary Award, presented by She Builds with AI (1 to 7 mins)
This award celebrates the woman whose AI filmmaking shines brightest. Open to women filmmakers across all genres and formats. The Luminary Award recognises not just the quality of the work but the courage, vision and inspiration behind it. Filmmakers must state the exact runtime of their film and declare all AI tools used in production. Submissions must have been completed after January 2026.
Grand Prix, chosen by the jury from the shortlisted films across all categories and announced on the night. No submission required.

Filmmakers retain full ownership and copyright of their submitted work. By submitting, you grant OPUS Film Awards a limited, non‑exclusive licence to use excerpts, stills and trailers for the promotion of the awards. Winning films may be showcased via OPUS’s official platform partners as part of a post‑event feature, with the filmmaker’s agreement.
Eligibility & AI Disclosure
- Films must be created using AI tools.
- Full AI tools disclosure is mandatory. At the point of submission you must list every AI tool, model or service used across production, image, video, audio, voice, music, upscaling and editing, and note the role of each. Incomplete or missing disclosures may disqualify an entry.
- Films must have been completed after 1st January 2026.
- All genres and styles are welcome.
- Films previously screened or published elsewhere are eligible, provided they meet the completion date above.
Submission
- A submission fee applies per entry: £25.50 for all categories, £35.50 for Best AI Feature Film.
- Runtimes vary by category. Please check individual category requirements.
- Submissions close 19th September 2026.
- Entries may be submitted via FilmFreeway or directly through this website.
Judging
- Shortlisted films are assessed by the OPUS jury.
- The Grand Prix is chosen by the jury from the shortlisted films across all categories and is announced on the night. No submission required.
- The OPUS People’s Choice Award is decided by online public vote on this website, which closes before the ceremony; the winner is revealed at the ceremony.
